The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Education Department has encouraged learners, teachers and parents to work together for a successful 2026 academic term as schools officially open today on Monday 12th January 2026.
In his message, ZCCB Education Secretary Father Leonard Namuhumba congratulates learners progressing to Grade 10 and Form One in both Catholic and Government schools, attributing their success to hard work and commitment.
Fr. Namuhumba urges learners to take their studies seriously, respect school rules and grow in discipline and responsibility, describing education as a valuable gift.

Fr. Namuhumba thanked teachers and support staff for their continued dedication to the academic, moral and spiritual formation of learners.
Fr. Namuhumba calls on parents and guardians to actively support their children, reminding them that they are the primary educators.
Fr. Namuhumba appealed for high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in schools to prevent disease outbreaks, noting that it is good that the school calendar has opened without postponement this year, which usually results from cholera outbreak.
