Dr. Kalangwa Kalangwa on the real value of a regional health meeting is what happens after the meeting. As part of the Zambian Ministry of Health delegation attending the 76th WHO Regional Committee for Africa in Addis Ababa, one thought that stands out is the importance of connecting regional conversations to realities on the ground. Across Africa, countries face different health challenges, but many of the underlying questions are shared: How do we achieve universal health coverage? How do we prepare for future health emergencies? How do we strengthen health systems with limited resources? And how do we ensure that the progress we make can be sustained? Regional platforms such as RC76 create space for countries to exchange experiences, learn from one another and identify approaches that can be adapted to their own contexts.
