PRESS RELEASE
ZSD URGES GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH CHILDREN’S ROAD SAFETY EDUTAINMENT PARKS NATIONWIDE
Lusaka, Zambia — 23rd March, 2026 –
Zambian School of Driving (ZSD) is alarmed by the latest Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) statistics showing persistently high numbers of road traffic accidents involving children between 2021 and 2025.
These statistics, which reveal that 1,075 children lost their lives in this period, highlight the urgent need for innovative solutions to protect Zambia’s youngest and most vulnerable road users.

ZSD is calling on the Government to establish Children’s Road Safety Edutainment Parks in all constituencies using the CDF funds.
These parks, designed as interactive edutainment centres, will allow children to learn vital road safety skills through play, simulation, and hands-on experience.
Research shows that children absorb concepts more effectively in relaxed, engaging environments where they can “see, do, and experience” — exactly what these parks will provide.
Internationally, road safety parks have proven to reduce child accidents by instilling lifelong safe behaviors.

By adopting this best practice, Zambia can empower its children, reduce fatalities, and build a culture of safety for future generations.
Beyond immediate education, these parks will also serve as long-term community assets, fostering a culture of safety and responsibility among future generations.
Children’s Road Safety Edutainment Parks provide ‘Proven Learning Methods’ as research consistently shows that children learn best in relaxed, playful settings where they can “see, do, and experience.” Edutainment parks provide hands-on simulations of real traffic scenarios, helping children internalize safety concepts more effectively than traditional classroom methods.
Protecting children on our roads is not just a policy choice — it is a moral imperative and a strategic investment in the nation’s future. So let’s help our children “Play Safe & Live Safe by building Road Safety Parks for Every Child”
