Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development (MIHUD) Professor Albert Malama says skills development is a cornerstone to individual sustainable income and overall national progress.

Speaking on Friday, 10th April 2026 at Lusaka’s Government Complex, during the 12th Combined Graduation Ceremony National Council for Construction (NCC) for February and December 2025 graduates, themed as a “Skilled Hands, Limitless Possibilities,” Professor Malama pegged the construction sector as a key driver of economic growth.

From the outset, Prof. Malama commended NCC for consistency in producing practical, industry-ready workforce.

On her part, NCC Board Chairperson, Engineer Ngenda restated strengthening regulation, investing in capacity building, raising construction industry standards and promoting excellence.

Earlier, NCC Executive Director, Professor Paul Makasa reported that National Construction School continues providing industry needs by offering practical, demand-driven training programmes aimed at developing competent professionals.

National Construction School Principal Engineer Wendy Nambule Mukape alluded to a hands-on, industry-ready training designed to meet the evolving demands of safety and efficiency on construction sites.

Eng. Mukape briefed Prof. Malama on National Construction School goal to become a regional Centre of Excellence, producing top-tier artisans, technicians, and technologists.
