Elias Mubanga pays gratitude to HH

As Parliament dissolved itself on Friday, 15th May 2026, former Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (MSMED), Elias Mubanga has extended his gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema for the great honour and privilege bestowed upon him by nominating him as Member of Parliament (MP) from over 20 million Zambians.

Mr. Mubanga said being chosen to serve the people of Zambia is something that means so much to him and is a responsibility he will always treasure with deep humility and gratitude.

Serving as Zambia’s first Minister in a Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development for four years is a mark of inclusivity on the part of President Hichilema, bestowed on a Zambian, which Mubanga continues to cherish.

“I am further humbled that President Hakainde Hichilema accorded me the historic opportunity to serve as the first Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development. This was an act of love, confidence, and trust placed in me, something my family and I shall forever remain indebted for and deeply grateful for,” an elated Mubanga said.

Mubanga added: “To all the people who supported me during my tenure as a nominated Member of Parliament and at the Ministry Small and Medium Enterprise Development, I extend my sincere appreciation. Your encouragement, prayers, and support gave me strength throughout this journey of service to our country”.

Mubanga said as this chapter comes to a close, he remain committed to serving Zambia with humility, dedication, and patriotism whenever called upon.

On Friday 13th March, 2026, President Hichilema  appointed Mfuwe Member of Parliament (MP) Mufunelo Malama as Zambia’s second Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development in Zambia, replacing Mr. Mubanga, whose tour of duty ender in February 2026.
