Petauke District’s Pastor Mathew’s M. Masiwa steps aside from ‘Pulpit’ to repair Kachikwati–Tasala 1 community road

A Petauke-based pastor has won praise from residents after voluntarily stepping down from his pastoral duties to take part in the repair of the damaged Kachikwati–Tasala 1 road, demonstrating an inspiring spirit of servant leadership and community responsibility.

Pastor Mathew’s M. Masiwa of Fire Mountain Deliverance Ministries International, whose church serves communities along the affected stretch, temporarily set aside his religious obligations to join local residents in manual road works aimed at improving accessibility, especially during the rainy season when the road becomes almost impassable.

Speaking during the works, Pastor Matthew said leadership goes beyond words spoken from the pulpit and must also be reflected in action. He noted that the poor state of the road has continued to affect worshippers, schoolchildren, farmers, and the general movement of people and goods in the area.

Residents have commended the pastor for leading by example, describing his action as a powerful reminder that development is a shared responsibility. Many say his involvement has boosted morale and encouraged wider community participation in the road repairs.
