The Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Chipota Mutati, MP, unveiled the new Board Chairperson and Vice Board Chairperson of the Radiation Protection Authority (RPA), appointing Mr. Msafiri Sinkala as Chairperson and Dr. Martha Chakulimba as Vice Chairperson.
The appointments, announced at an unveiling ceremony at Urban Hotel in Lusaka on December 3, 2025, are a strategic move to reinforce governance, accountability, and public safety in the management of radiation sources, aligning with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision for a transparent, technology-driven government.
Mr Mutati tasked the new leadership with urgently executing 19 critical milestones and upholding five fundamental principles: accountability, responsibility, transparency, fairness/respect, and risk management.
The Minister stressed that the board’s role is crucial for policy direction and oversight, urging them to avoid interference in operational matters like procurement.

The strengthening of the RPA Board is also intended to support national development goals, promote international best practices in science and innovation, and safeguard public health by upholding stringent safety standards. Permanent Secretary Engineer Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu was also present at the ceremony. Mr. Sinkala thanked the government and pledged the Board’s commitment to the Minister’s principles and the 19 milestones.
