Musenda Kaluba Simuyemba, President Chairperson of Movement for Change and Equality (M4CE), described the passing of Bill 7 as a divisive development
Mr. Simuyemba noted that politics since Independence had been structured to exist without people effectively participating.
Simuyemba stated that the opposition and general populace are struggling, making a majority of the people destitute and not considered in this equation of winner takes all.

Simuyemba emphasized that binary politics tend to produce noise without substance, similar to experiencing an oasis without water.
“The outcomes are still the same, forming dependent up to now. Successive ruling party have been changing faces, but the structure remains the same. We are here to end the fight between the haves and the have-nots,” said Simuyemba.
Simuyemba noted that the opposition is not just about taking power, but about changing the system of production.
Simuyemba is agreed that the UPND’s actions are a clear indication that they are not interested in changing the system, but rather in replacing the current rulers.
“The question is, what is the deeper cause of this opposition? Is it primarily about power, or is it about production? I think it’s about production, and that’s why we’re seeing a lot of noise without substance,” Simuyemba asked. Simuyemba stated that the M4CE is not just an opposition party, but a movement that seeks to change the architecture of the country. “We’re not here to just challenge the ruling party, but to change the system that makes the ruling party possible,” he said.
Simuyemba regretted that the current system is designed to keep people in poverty and ignorance, and that the opposition is the only language of relevance that can bring about change. “The opposition is not just about winning elections, but about changing the system of governance,” Simuyemba emphasized.
Simuyemba also noted that the M4CE is not just a party, but a movement that seeks to bring about ideological clarity. “We’re not just about disagreements, but about finding solutions to the problems facing our country,” he said.

Simuyemba says problems facing the country cannot be solved by just one person, but by people as a collective carrying a clear vision and ideology. “We need to bring an ideological break, and that’s what we’re fighting for,” Simuyemba said.
Simuyemba rejected the idea that the problems facing the country are just about electricity and education. “It’s about the system of governance, and that’s what we’re fighting to change,” Simuyemba said.

When asked about supporters of the bill who argue that it will lead to improved equity and opportunities, Simuyemba said citizens need to be told what the needs of the people are.
Simuyemba restated M4CE’s commitment to fighting for the rights of the people; water, sanitation, affordable food, education, health and shelter resolving not to be silenced by the passing of Bill 7.
“We will continue to speak out, and we will continue to fight for the people. We will continue to fight, and we will win,”,” vowed Simuyemba as M4CE is journeys to bringing about change in Zambia, and will not be deterred by the current teething challenges.
