KCM sponsors free entry for children at the KCM Derby ….as Konkola Blades FC narrowly edge Nchanga Rangers FC 1–0
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Malcolm Mewett witnessed the KCM Derby as renowned Sharp Razor Konkola Blades Football Club narrowly beat the formidable Brave Nchanga Rangers, by a goal to zero (I-0) at Konkola Stadium, Chililabombwe on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at 15:00 hours.

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Malcolm Mewett announced that children will be granted free entry to the KCM Derby between the renowned Sharp Razor Konkola Blades Football Club and the formidable Brave Nchanga Rangers, at Konkola Stadium, Chililabombwe on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at 15:00 hours.

Mewett extended a special invitation to children from the One Way Mission Children’s Centre, a facility dedicated to caring for vulnerable children in Chililabombwe and supported by KCM, to attend the match and partake in the excitement and festivities associated with the KCM Derby.

In commenting on this initiative, Mewett emphasized that the game offers a valuable opportunity for families from Chingola, Chililabombwe, and surrounding areas to unite and enjoy football, while simultaneously promoting social interaction and community engagement.
Konkola Blades Football Club, a historic club sponsored by Konkola Copper Mines, has achieved considerable success in nurturing and producing football talent in Zambia, including prominent players such as Stoppila Sunzu, Dennis Lota, and many others.

The club will host the Brave Nchanga Rangers, who currently hold third place on the league table and aspire to qualify for continental football in the upcoming season. The team enters the match with heightened confidence following their recent midweek victory over Kabwe Warriors Football Club.
The KCM Derby is widely regarded as a highly charged fixture, as the two sister clubs compete not only for valuable league points but also for the prestige and dominance among KCM-sponsored football teams.

The much-anticipated KCM Derby was played yesterday, with Konkola Blades FC edging Nchanga Rangers FC 1–0 in a closely contested and exciting encounter.
The match was attended by Lucky Sichone, His Worship the Mayor of Chililabombwe, alongside Malcolm Mewett, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Konkola Copper Mines, and other KCM representatives. In a gesture that underscored community inclusion, children were granted free entry to enjoy the derby atmosphere.

A solitary goal proved decisive in a match that lived up to its billing, as both teams showcased determination, discipline, and competitive spirit. Despite the defeat, Nchanga Rangers remain third on the league table with 29 points, while Konkola Blades sit tenth with 22 points.
The fixture marked a significant milestone for the two sister clubs, who last met three years ago when both were competing in the National League ,a match that ended in a draw. This latest result therefore represents a notable moment for Konkola Blades.
