The commendation followed inspections conducted by the Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Chipota Mutati, at the Nyumba Yanga Tower and the Chalala (Shantumbu) site in Lusaka. The inspections formed part of government’s ongoing engagement with mobile network operators to address public concerns around network reliability and service performance.
Speaking during the engagement, the Minister acknowledged that feedback from members of the public had informed government’s discussions with Airtel and other operators.
“Many Zambians have raised concerns about dropped calls and quality of service. We engaged Airtel on these issues, and today we are seeing that commitment translated into action,” Mr. Mutati said.
Mutati welcomed Airtel’s US$107 million investment towards the upgrade and rollout of over 400 network sites, describing it as a significant step towards improving service quality and expanding connectivity.
