ORIENTAL Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) Ben Saili says the Saturday 29th January, 2022 World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Bantamweight title fight between 20-year-old Catherine Phiri and Zimbabwean 25-year-old Kudakwashe Chiwandire will take place on Saturday 26th February, 2022.

In a Frday 7th January, 2022 Press Statement to Mozo TV News in Lusaka, Saili says OQBP is privileged briefed Youth, Sports and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu on the upcoming Phiri and Chiwandire fight.

Saili explained receiving advice to jointly host a Corporate Cocktail fundraising event with the Youth, Sports and Arts Ministry.

“We were advised to reschedule the fight to engage the corporate world at a Cocktail Party hosted by OQBP in liaison with the Youth, Sports and Arts Ministry, with resource mobilization as the main topic, due to economic downturns worsened by Coronavirus (Covid19) pandemic to finding a workable solution,” said a delighted Saili as fight Platinum sponsors, Tradekings through Bigtree have confirmed partnering with OQBP to host the event.

WBC Vice President in-charge of Africa and Oceania and Africa Boxing Union Houcine Houchi has been appointed Commissioner, Filemon Mweya of Namibia as referee while three judges Lynette Onam from Kenya, Francis Chirwa from Zambia and Thandi Ngodwane of South Africa will count.

With K210, 000 raised toward the K500, 000 budget by December 2021, OQBP Promotions Manager Christopher Malunga expressed delight with progress made.
