Zambia is witnessing a transformative shift in its energy landscape, marked by a remarkable growth in solar energy development, says an elated ZAHU Energy Solutions Limited Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mrs. Lukundo Nankamba.
After years of heavy dependence on hydropower, Mrs. Nankamba is delighted that Zambia is strategically pivoting towards solar power to boost national energy security and sustainability.
In a Sunday, January 25, 2026 Press Statement, Mrs. Nankamba restated that ZAHU Energy Solutions Limited is working on the development of a significant solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant coupled with advanced battery storage.
“This initiative forged under a 25-year Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA), aims to tackle Zambia’s energy deficit, strengthen national energy security, and contribute actively to climate change mitigation efforts. The initiative set to be fully functional by December 2026 will produce 200MW of solar power in Mumbwa District, of the Central Province, building on the momentum created by the ground breaking ceremony of 200MW solar power plant launched in Chisamba District by President Hakainde Sammy Hichilema on the 7th of November 2025,” explained Mrs. Nankamba.

The project will be operational under a long-term power purchase agreement with ZESCO Limited, and is expected to generate numerous job opportuniities while significantly enhancing Zambia’s energy resilience.
Mrs. Nankamba reiterated ZAHU Energy Solutions Limited’s commitment to accelerating the ongoing developments at the Mumbwa District site, backed by strong government support and progressive energy policies.
With focused efforts, Mrs. Nankamba says ZAHU is poised to meet its objectives and make substantial contributions to national energy grid and Zambia’s overarching development goals.
“At ZAHU, we are not merely building for today; we are investing in a sustainable energy future for all Zambians,” stressed Mrs. Nankamba. – Rainboweducation Zambia Rainbow Zambia Rainbow Television Zambia Limited Kwilanzi New Zambia Kwilanzi News Zambia Rainbow Tourism Rainbow Traveltourismzambia Rainbow Newspaper Zambia Limited Rainbow Newspaper Limited Rainbow Newspaper Zambia Limited Zambian Cypwd Zambian Menstrual Hygiene Zambian Kwacha Ngwee Press Zambian Children Young People and Women in Development (ZCYPWD) Zambian Children Young People and Women in Development Zambian Developmental Media Alliance (ZADEMA) Zambia Media Network Against Tobacco-ZAMNAT Zambian Developmental Media Alliance (ZADEMA) Zambian Media Taskforce on Ending Child Marriages Misa Zambia Zcyp Development Journalist Arthur Davies Sikopo Branding Zambia 2014 Anglican Sinjela Kwacha Magazine Simon Banda Simon Kwacha Today Zambia Newspaper
