This world can feel very painful when we try to walk through it alone. Life has many battles, many disappointments, and many moments that leave us asking questions. But when Jesus Christ lives in us, we are never alone. He fights our battles, He gives us grace to overcome, and He provides strength when we feel weak.

Sometimes when we look back at our past, we ask ourselves, “How did I manage to survive all that?” The answer is simple — it was not by our own power, but by His divine guidance, His mercy, and His protection. Even in moments we did not see His hand, He was there directing our steps and carrying us through.

As we remember the painful process that Jesus went through for our sake, it is important for us to reflect deeply in our hearts. His suffering was not in vain — it was an expression of love, sacrifice, and obedience. Therefore, our lives should also reflect sincerity and true devotion.

We must be careful not to do good things just so that people can see or praise us. When we serve in church or help others only to please people, we do it in vain — tiku pyoka pawaka. Instead, let us do what is right because it honors God, not because it brings attention to ourselves.

John 15:1–5 reminds us that Jesus is the true vine, and we are the branches. Without Him, we can do nothing. But when we remain connected to Him, we bear fruit, receive strength, and walk in purpose.

May we remain rooted in Christ, serve with pure hearts, and trust that He continues to fight for us every day. Garden Presbyterian Church
