THE modernisation of Kasumbalesa border in Chililabombwe District at a cost of $110 million is taking shape.

The Zambian Side Concession (Zmart Borderlink Limited)
In November 2024, the Zambian government signed a $110 million (expandable to $140.67 million) concession agreement with Zmart Borderlink Limited (part of the Zmart Group) to develop the border post under a design, finance, build, operate, maintain, and transfer model.
The project involves constructing a modern one-stop border facility with rigid concrete pavements, access roads, and integrated systems for various agencies (ZRA, RTSA, Immigration, ZABS). It also includes a Multi-Facility Economic Zone, a 2,000-capacity truck park, banking halls, and the construction of 20-km of urban roads in Chililabombwe and Chingola districts.
The company is owned by Zambian businessman Jignesh Soni, who also serves as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
