Elizabeth Lisa Phiri, a dedicated member of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), has announced her candidacy for the position of Mayor of Chingola in the Thursday August 13, 2026 Tripartite Elections.
In a statement posted on her Facebook page on Monday, February 23, 2026, Ms. Phiri, an engineering professional who previously worked for Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company Limited expressed her determination to lead Chingola with humility and vision.
Ms. Phiri cited the transformative leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema as her inspiration, highlighting his commitment to good governance, transparency and economic growth. “I am proud to stand under his leadership and align Chingola’s progress with the broader vision for Zambia,” she said.
As a woman in leadership, Ms. Phiri emphasized the importance of inclusive governance.
“This is the time for more women to take up leadership roles and actively shape the future of our communities,” she stated.

Her campaign message focuses on improving service delivery, strengthening waste management, enhancing transparency and accountability, creating opportunities for youth and women, supporting local businesses and building strong partnerships for sustainable growth.
“Your Mayor. Your City. Your Future,” Ms. Phiri declared, urging citizens to join her in building a cleaner, stronger and more prosperous Chingola.
Ms. Phiri’s announcement has generated excitement among UPND supporters in Chingola who are eager to see her bring her expertise and vision to the mayoral office.
