With deep sorrow, I have learnt of the unfortunate passing of His Excellency Dr Kenneth David Kaunda, the First Republican President and founding father of our Nation.

I join the rest of the country in mourning and remembering Dr Kaunda, an iconic leader whose sacrifice liberated our land.

As we fondly called you, our beloved leader, KK, you were a figure of freedom and a symbol of hope for the continent.

While we mourn you, we celebrate your life. You were a respected statesman and a dedicated leader but, most importantly, a servant to our country and humanity. You established a foundation for us, fought for our independence and persevered for unity and common purpose, One Zambia, One Nation. We will continue to uphold these values.

Your love for God and promotion of the 10 Commandments in our daily lives touched us all.

Though you are gone, your legacy will live on and transcend generations.

You will forever be loved, cherished and fondly remembered.

May Your Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
