PF's William Phiri backs Willah Joseph Mudolo

The Patriotic Front (PF) in Eastern Province has endorsed South African-based business magnate Willah Joseph Mudolo (WJM) as a perfect Edgar Chagwa Lungu replacement and Thursday 13th August 2026 presidential aspirant.
Featuring on a Monday, 29th December, 2025 Pan African Radio 96.1FM ‘Peoples Debate’, PF Eastern Province Information and Publicity Secretary (IPS) William Phiri is backing Mr. Mudolo’s candidature as a unifier and ‘Man of the People’.
Phiri believes Mudolo is the only ‘Messiah’ for the people of Zambia.
Phiri said the only way for the PF to properly rebrand is by looking up to a new face in the name of Mudolo.
Phiri insists that Mudolo has been a key PF figure silently playing essential roles since its inception.
“Mudolo has helped the party in so many ways, we can’t mention here on air. He has a heart for the people. We cannot rebrand by fronting the same people who made us lose the 2021 General Elections. We need new faces. For us who have met Mudolo, we know his power, courage, and vision,” Phiri said.

Pressed by a caller that PF is now a dead political party, Phiri retorted.
” PF cannot easily die as it is bigger than any individual. In 1991, it was not about the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) but fed up people of Zambia. In 2021, it was not about the UPND, UPND was not the favorite to win the General Elections. People wanted change and prevailed despite investment in elaborate countrwide infrastructure. In 2026, it will not be about the UPND or the PF but it will be about the people, and I can assure you people will prevail and elect a new team. You cannot stop the wind of change,” Phiri threw a gauntlet at a named caller.
