Atlas Mara Bank ploughs additional K687, 500 into Duke of Edinburgh International Award Zambia

ATLAS Mara Bank has contributed an additional K687,500 to the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Zambia and the Ministry of Education for the next three years.

Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Duke of Edinburgh International Award and Ministry of Education (MoE), Bank Acting Managing Director Bobbline Cheembela says the financial institution understands the vital role Education plays in the uplifting of communities in Zambia and always on the lookout for initiative that make a positive and sustainable impact in the education sector.
Mr. Cheembela says the increased sponsorship will equip an additional 10 government schools across Zambia, which is at least one school per province with an overall reach of 500 students and 30 teachers respectively.
He says since the beginning of the partnership in 2019, they have awarded 200 recipients of the Duke of Edinburgh international Awards in Zambia whose recipients range from 14 to 24 years.
And Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Zambia Board Chairperson Martin Matabishi said in Zambia 10,000 young have benefited from the Award since inception.
Mr. Matabishi has commended Atlas Mara Bank for their support and the Ministry of Education for approving the Award.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Education permanent secretary for Education Services, Joel Kamoko said the New Dawn Administration is committed to initiatives and partnerships that foster a richer education journey for the youth of Zambia.
Mr. Kamoko had commended Atlas Mara Bank and Duke of Edinburgh international Award for the initiative which is benefiting the youth.
