PRIORITIZE ENVIRONMENTAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH SPECIALISTS
PRESS STATEMENT
The Center for the Democratisation of Public Policy, CDPP, has called on the Zambian government to employ more environmental and public health specialists following the 1.5 billion-dollar-five-year deal in health signed with the US government recently.
CDPP Executive Director, Kellys Kaunda, says more of these specialists are needed in the communities where preventable diseases such as cholera are a constant feature.

Kaunda says prioritizing the employment of more environmental and public health specialists is an investment in the majority poor who cannot afford expensive private health care when they fall sick.
He says most densely-populated residential areas throughout the country remain an environmental challenge as dirt and garbage are a common feature.
But, Kaunda says, with an increase in the employment of public and environmental health specialists, the beauty of the physical spaces in densely-populated communities should diminish considerably.
CDPP is further proposing that local authorities must consider engaging local communities in sustainable ways of keeping their surrounding areas clean at all times.
The organisation says communities must organise themselves in smaller groups to police their designated areas for environmental cleanness.
