Exactly 90 days before a crucial Thursday 13th August 2026 Tripartite Election, Socialist Party Zambia (SPZ) People’s Pact presidential flagbearer Dr. Fred M’membe and Running Mate, Ms. Dolika Banda continuously preach local solutions as a sustainable to increased debt vulnerability.
In a passionate plea to the electorate, Dr. M’membe insisted that a lasting solution to Zambia’s deep economic difficulties does not lie in the Siamese Twins – Brenton Woods lads and lasses at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) – World Bank debt restructuring deal as a prescription.
Placing emphasis on a diversified economy, Dr. M’membe says Zambia’s lasting solution lies in the collection of fair and adequate revenue from the mining sector for support to secondary industries such as manufacturing.
“It lies in the development of the arts, a hugely important industry that those in power today have reduced to a footnote in a ministry! It lies in increased state support to agriculture and enhanced food security, but those in power today are quicker to listen to the IMF and remove subsidies on farming inputs even when the United States (US) and other Western countries still subsidise their own agriculture industry,” advised Dr. M’membe.
Noting that the Government has business in business, Dr. M’membe says increased state investment to social sectors such as education and health will anchor a Socialist Party Zambia –People’s Pact people-centered economic revival agenda. – Kwilanzi News Zambia
