An aspiring parliamentary candidate for Chilanga Constituency under the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), David Banda Rossi has pledged to run a clean, issue-based campaign anchored on unity, development, and respect for democratic values.

Speaking during the handover of community projects, Rossi paid tribute to outgoing area leadership, acknowledging their contributions to local development.

“Love him or hate him, let us give gratitude where it’s due,” Rossi said, expressing “sincere heartfelt gratitude” to the current Chilanga Member of Parliament, Sipho Hlazo and the Chilanga leadership for laying a strong development foundation.

Rossi emphasized continuity and improvement, stating that if given the mandate, he would “continue where you left and improve on them,” while also initiating new projects, particularly in Chilanga South.

Highlighting his campaign approach, Rossi declared: “I pledge an issue-based, non-violent, non-tribal, non-segregatory, non-sexist, non-defamatory, non-corrupt and non-confrontational campaign.”

He further stressed party loyalty, committing to support whichever candidate the UPND adopts if he is not selected.

“My mandate is to mobilize for the UPND party and the President and help deliver a landslide victory,” he said.

Positioning himself as a grassroots servant leader, Rossi described himself as “a simple person exercising my constitutional right to participate in the governance of this country,” adding that his ambition is driven by a calling “to serve the people.”

He also cited his long-standing contributions to community development, including the construction of Villa Lucia Police Post and Kris Katumba Clinic, as evidence of his commitment to improving livelihoods.

In a closing remark that drew applause, Rossi declared: “If adoption is also based on ‘Sonta epo wa bomba,’ then I will sonta!”

His remarks signal the early tone of what is shaping up to be a competitive race in Chilanga, with a focus on development continuity, grassroots engagement, and party unity.
