Zambia Shines in Africa as Lolisha Jere Crowned Best Female Oralist at Pre-Vis Moot in Nairobi

Cavendish University Law students representing Zambia have achieved a historic milestone at the 5th Annual East Africa Pre-Moot and Arbitration Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya, finishing in the Top 4 out of 18 participating countries across Africa.
The competition brought together universities from across the continent and serves as a preparatory platform for the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria. The University of Cape Town emerged as overall winners, while Zimbabwe finished second. Zambia delivered an exceptional performance in what was the countryโs first appearance at the competition.
In an outstanding individual achievement, Lolisha Jere was crowned Best Female Oralist in Africa, distinguishing herself as the top female advocate among competitors from all 18 countries. Her exceptional advocacy skills, analytical depth, and confident courtroom presence earned her continental recognition and high praise from the judging panel.
Additionally, Christopher Kapembe ranked third among male oralists, further highlighting the strength and depth of Zambiaโs delegation.
The Zambian team comprised: Christopher Kapembe, Negracious Justin, Josiane Adolphe and Lolisha Jere.
The team was coached by Ms. Michelle M. Manda, Assistant Dean in the School of Law at Cavendish University, whose mentorship and leadership were instrumental in guiding the students through the rigorous competition.
Representing the Zambia High Commission in Nairobi, Deputy High Commissioner (DHC) to Kenya Mr. Exnobert Zulu congratulated the team for their remarkable performance.
DHC Zulu commended the students for making Zambia proud, particularly as first-time participants, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence as they prepare to represent the nation at the global rounds in Vienna, Austria, later this year.
This achievement marks a significant step forward for Zambiaโs growing presence in international commercial arbitration and highlights the excellence of its emerging legal professionals. –
