Mikango Barracks’ 200 housing units development ready for commissioning

Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary, Mr Maambo Haamaundu and Zambia Army Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, Major General Luswepo Sinyinza inspected 200 newly constructed houses at Mikango Barracks on Wednesday 31st December, 2025.
The tour covered high-cost, medium-cost and low-cost housing units, all of which have been completed and are ready for commissioning.

The delegation also visited the newly finished sewerage ponds, which form part of the broader infrastructure works at the barracks.
Mr. Haamaundu expressed satisfaction with the quality of workmanship delivered by the contractor, Zhongmei Engineering Group Limited.
Officials from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development (MIHUD) was part of the delegation.
Speaking during the tour, Haamaundu described the housing project as a major step forward in providing decent accommodation for Zambia Army officers and soldiers.
