In a heartwarming story of determination and perseverance, 57-year-old Gladys Nambeye has returned to school under the free education policy at Mbonge Secondary School in Solwezi, North-Western Province. Col. Grandson Wishikoti Katambi (Rtd), Permanent Secretary, met Ms. Nambeye during the launch of the 2025/2026 tree planting campaign at the school.

Ms. Nambeye, a Grade 10 pupil, expressed her gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema for introducing the free education policy, which has enabled her to pursue her studies. She runs a skills center and plans to empower others after completing her education.

Ms. Nambeye’s story is an inspiration to many, demonstrating that it’s never too late to pursue one’s dreams. Her determination to further her education is a testament to the impact of the free education policy on the lives of Zambians.
