The UNFPA, East and Southern Africa Deputy Regional Director, Young Hong, today officially handed over specialized ICT equipment to the Ministry of Healthโs National Supply Chain Coordinating Unit (Control Tower) on behalf of the Zambia Country Office.

The Control Tower is responsible for the end-to-end management of Zambiaโs public health supply chain data. This investment in ICT equipment will significantly empower the unit to support the supply chain and enable decision-makers to utilize data-driven evidence for interventions. During the handover, Ms. Hong emphasized that UNFPA views this as a strategic investment to improve overall health outcomes.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Alutuli, Chief Pharmacist โ Logistics, noted that this equipment is critical for promoting data visibility, efficiency, and accountability to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential health and reproductive health commodities.
This support builds on our 2025 achievements, where UNFPA assisted the Ministry of Health and ZAMMSA with forecasting and supply planning, processed over 80% of the procurement for family planning and maternal health commodities, and supported over 75% of the distribution of family planning commodities.
