Former Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad Ahmad who is FIFA representative,ย met Ministry of Information Permanent Secretary (PS) Thabo Kawana over broadcast rights of this yearโs FIFA World Cup on Saturday, 16th May, 2026.

With less than a month to kickoff, state broadcaster, Zambia National Broadcasting Services (ZNBC) is yet to secure rights to broadcast the Thursday, 11th June, 2026 to Sunday, 19th July 2926 tournament hosted by three nations; Canada, Mexico and United States (U.S,).
Kawana met the immediate past president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF),ย Ahmad Ahmad of Madagascar, alongside former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, Andrew Kamanga, at the New Government Complex.

Kawana discussed the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a tool for global unity, diplomacy, and development, now expanded to 48 teams.
Kawana says Zambia remains committed to leveraging the power of media and information to promote sports development and national unity.
