Standing Up for Boy Child Initiative Zambia (SUBCIZ), a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting boys and young men, continues to make strides in education support and youth empowerment as part of its broader national mission.

The organisation, which focuses on boys and young men aged 7 to 24, works in areas including education support, mental health awareness, mentorship, and advocacy. Its goal is to nurture responsible and productive citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to Zambia’s sustainable development through improved access to education, health services, and economic opportunities.

As part of its ongoing outreach under the Educate the Boy Child Initiative, SUBCIZ recently donated learning materials to pupils at Sangwani Community School in Chibombo District of Central Province.
The donation, carried out on January 24, 2025, included books, pencils, and rubbers, aimed at easing the educational challenges faced by learners at the school.

Sangwani Community School, which has over 180 pupils, faces several obstacles that hinder effective learning. These include a shortage of desks, lack of a borehole to sustain the school garden used for feeding programmes, and limited mobility support such as wheelchairs for differently abled pupils.

A total of 350 learning materials were distributed to pupils, reflecting SUBCIZ’s vision of building an equitable and inclusive society where boys and young men have access to life-enhancing opportunities.

Speaking during the handover, SUBCIZ Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Mildred C. Nyirenda reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable learners within its capacity. She also appealed to stakeholders and well-wishers to partner with the initiative to help address the school’s pressing needs.

Sangwani Community School Headteacher Mr. Taonga Soko expressed gratitude for the support, stating that the donation would significantly improve the learning experience of pupils.
