‎‎United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) leader Charles Chanda has questioned the removal of checkpoints across the country without proper explanation.

‎At a time when the Zambia Army is moving to curb illegal migration in places like the Northwestern province, Mr. Chanda wonders why another wing of government is removing checkpoints.

‎“Why are checkpoints being removed without an explanation? This is about public safety and border control. People deserve a clear reason,” said Chanda.

Chanda adds that any change to security measures should come with a plan.

“We need to see how security will be kept safe if checkpoints are taken away.  Transparency is crucial. The public deserves a clear explanation and a sensible plan for ongoing safety,” advised Chanda.

Chanda emphasises that government actions on security affect everyday lives.

“As a citizen and a leader, I want open and accountable government. If changes are made, they must be explained to the people and followed by tangible steps to keep communities safe,” noted Chanda.
