Patriotic Front (PF) Member of the Central Committee (MCC) Dr. Chishimba Kambwili is ready to abandon his presidential ambitions in the interest of fostering unity among opposition political parties ahead of the Thursday, August 13 General Elections, as per desires of the Zambian people.

Dr. Kambwili revealed that he has held consultations with respected national elders, among them retired Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda and veteran diplomat Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika.

According to Dr. Kambwili, during a Friday 16th January, 2026 meeting at Kapingila House, run and controlled by the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), the elders have raised serious concerns about the direction the country is taking under the UPND administration.

Dr. Kambwili stated that national interest must take precedence over personal ambition, emphasizing that a united opposition stands a better chance of addressing Zambia’s economic and governance challenges.
