Manchester, United Kingdom (UK), is set to play host to the IPBES12 conference from February 3-8, 2026. This event brings together global leaders to discuss biodiversity restoration and sustainable practices – with a special focus on _business and biodiversity.
The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) will launch its first‑ever assessment report on Monday, 9 February 2026 in Manchester, UK.
The conference highlights an urgent call to action: businesses have a pivotal role in protecting and restoring nature. With industries impacting ecosystems worldwide, collaboration between business and conservation efforts is key to tackling biodiversity loss.

The culmination of almost three years of work by 80 of the world’s leading experts from science and the private sector, as well as from Indigenous Peoples and local communities – drawn from 35 countries – the Report aims to provide information and options that can be used by businesses and financial institutions to drive better outcomes for biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people.
*Why should businesses get involved?*
– Boost sustainability credentials and meet growing consumer demand for eco-friendly practices
– Mitigate risks tied to biodiversity loss (e.g., resource scarcity, regulatory changes)
– Explore partnerships for innovative, nature-positive solutions

The IPBES12 conference is a prime opportunity for businesses to engage, learn, and shape the future of biodiversity efforts.
