Secretary of the Kunda Royal Establishment, His Royal Highness (HRH) Chief Mambwe Che Jumbe IX has regretted the untimely passing of Inkosi Yama Nkosi Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV.
Representing the Kunda Royal Establishment and the entire Kunda people, Che Jumbe IX said he had learnt of the transition of His Royal Highness Inkhosi Yama Nkhosi Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV of the great Ngoni Nation with unfathomable sorrow and deeply wounded hearts.

“We stand in profound grief, united with the Ngoni Royal Family, the Ngoni Royal Council, the people of Eastern Province, and the nation of Zambia. This is not merely a loss for the Ngoni people—it is a loss for every traditional ruler, every community, and every soul who values wisdom, unity, and the preservation of our African identity. Inkhosi Yama Nkhosi was more than a paramount chief of the land next to us. He was a dear friend, a respected colleague, and a brother on the throne. Over the decades, the Kunda and Ngoni peoples have walked side by side, bound by geography, history, and mutual respect. Under his reign, the bond between Senior Chief Nsefu and Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV grew into a model of traditional leadership collaboration—rooted in sincerity, shared purpose, and genuine affection,” grieved Che Jumbe IX .
Che Jumbe IX said the Kunda Royal Establishment shall miss Inkhosi Yama Nkhosi’s great wisdom, which flowed like a mighty river—calm yet powerful, patient yet decisive.
“His counsel to the Kunda Royal Establishment was always sought and never taken lightly. He spoke with the weight of ancestors, yet with the humility of a servant leader. His absence leaves a silence that no words can fill. As we mourn alongside our Ngoni brothers and sisters, we do not merely perform a ritual of condolence. We weep because a giant has fallen. We reflect because a torchbearer has passed. And we commit because his legacy must endure,” noted an appreciative Che Jumbe IX.
Che Jumbe IX reiterated that the Kunda people stand with the Ngoni people in this dark hour of grief.
“We share your tears. We carry your pain. And we pledge to honor Inkhosi Yama Nkhosi’s memory by upholding the very values he lived for: peace, cultural pride, and the unity of all traditional houses. May the Almighty God, who raised him to the throne, now receive him into eternal rest. May his soul dwell in the peaceful company of our forefathers. And may his name—David Njengembazo Jele—remain forever etched in the sacred history of our land, Zambia,” prayed Che Jumbe IX.
