Despite the party securing a modest 100 votes, Dr. Silumbe transformed a moment of defeat into one of hope and celebration, hosting a heartfelt gathering where he gifted supporters and members of the media with essential supplies, including 25kg bags of mealie meal, beef, and pork.

This gesture served as a powerful “thank you” to the loyal electorate who stood by the party, with Dr. Silumbe emphasizing that the nation is starving for “fresh minds in leadership” to unlock Zambia’s true developmental potential.

The event served as a strategic launchpad for the party’s future, as Dr. Silumbe officially appointed the resilient Chawama candidate, Mr. Thazana Musukuma Mutungwa, as the new Lusaka Province Leadership Movement Party Chairperson.

Tasked with the urgent mission of building robust branches and structures ahead of the upcoming general elections, Mutungwa accepted the role with fiery determination. He addressed the sting of the recent results by pointing to a massive opportunity hidden in the data: while 92,000 voters are registered in Chawama, only 18,000 cast their ballots.

Mutungwa argued that this staggering voter apathy proves the seat is still up for grabs, pledging to mobilize the silent majority and solidify the party’s presence across the province.

Echoing this optimism, National Chairman Mr. David Kalumba and Secretary General Mr. Jairos Ngoma rallied the party faithful, insisting that the 100 votes represent a seed of growth rather than a setback.

Mr. Ngoma issued a stirring call to the youth, reminding them that the Leadership Movement remains the only vehicle dedicated to self-reliance through entrepreneurship and land ownership. He promised that a future LM government would empower citizens with title deeds, transforming the “yearning” for land into a reality for the common man.

As the gathering concluded, the message was clear: the party is not retreating, but is instead using the lessons of Chawama to fuel a stronger, more united charge toward the Thursday 13th August, 2026 polls. – Rainbow Newspaper Zambia Limited (RNZL).
