*To Distinguished Members of the African Diaspora, Afro-descendants from Around the World* I am writing to alert you to a critical situation in Guinea, a major challenge for human rights and democracy in West Africa. Guinea, the first African country to reject French colonial rule by proclaiming its independence on October 2, 1958, is today facing a crisis threatening its democratic principles. Since September 2021, a military junta led by a former French legionnaire has betrayed its promises of democratic transition, transforming the hope of reforms into a systematic repression of human rights and democratic institutions. *Documented Violations* Our documentation reveals alarming patterns of human rights violations, including: – Arbitrary arrests of political opponents and activists; – Detentions without trial, in violation of national and international laws; – Censorship of the media and restrictions on freedom of expression; – Violent repression of peaceful protests, resulting in numerous casualties. *Critical observations* We draw your attention to several crucial points: *1. Broken democratic promises* – Failure to respect promised electoral timetables; – Absence of transparent dialogue with opposition parties; – Inadequate constitutional reforms; – Compromised independence of the electoral commission. *2. International diplomatic concerns* – Reports indicate that French President Emmanuel Macron is the main international supporter of the military junta. This unilateral support is not only troubling, but also potentially destabilizing for regional democratic processes. *Urgent calls for action* We urge the European institutions, French and international legislatures to take firm and immediate action: • Impose targeted sanctions against the junta leaders and their allies; • Independently investigate human rights violations; • Demand the immediate release of all political prisoners; • Apply diplomatic pressure to establish a clear and accelerated timetable for transparent elections. *Wider Implications* The situation in Guinea represents much more than a localized crisis. It symbolizes the fragility of democratic institutions and the persistent threat of authoritarian regression in West Africa. *Respectful Request* We urgently request the involvement of all people of good will to put pressure on the French President to withdraw his unconditional support for the Guinean military junta. The future of Guinea, and indeed the stability of West Africa, is in the balance. Immediate and principled action is imperative. Respectfully, _Lancine SACKO_ Defender of Democratic Governance and Human Rights

– Arrestations arbitraires d’opposants politiques et militants ;
– Détentions sans procès, en violation des lois nationales et internationales ;
– Censure des médias et restriction de la liberté d’expression ;

*1. Promesses démocratiques brisées*
– Non-respect des calendriers électoraux promis ;
– Absence de dialogue transparent avec les partis d’opposition ;
– Réformes constitutionnelles inadéquates ;
– Indépendance compromise de la commission électorale.

• Imposer des sanctions ciblées contre les dirigeants de la junte et leurs alliés ;
• Enquêter de manière indépendante sur les violations des droits humains ;
• Exiger la libération immédiate de tous les prisonniers politiques ;
