DStv expands BBC Studios’ channel portfolio with the launch of the sixth BBC channel, BBC UKTV

 Brand-new destination offering wider DStv audiences’ access to BBC’s award-winning catalogue.
 Available on DStv Premium, DStv Compact Plus, DStv Compact, DStv Family, DStv Access and DStv Lite from Thursday 15th December 2022.
 Programming includes a variety of entertainment, soaps, documentaries, and children’s shows, scheduled to match the viewing habits of families in the Southern Africa markets.

06 December 2022: BBC UKTV (DStv channel 134) will launch on DStv Premium, DStv Compact Plus, DStv Compact, DStv Family, DStv Access and DStv Lite from Thursday 15th December 2022, offering more DStv viewers access to a variety of entertainment, natural history series, soaps, and children’s shows from BBC Studios’ award-winning catalogue.

BBC Studios’ sixth channel on DStv will be scheduled to match the viewing habits of families in the Southern Africa markets with a range of genres for all ages to enjoy:

o Long-running sitcom My Family (Season 1) can be enjoyed weekdays at 06:00 and 19:30.

o A collection of the BBC’s incredible natural history shows will be available every day at 09:00 and weekdays from 15:00. Including Wild Africa and Africa with Ade Adepitan.

o Much-loved British hospital-based soap Doctors returns to DStv audiences with Season 22 weekdays at 19:00.

o Iconic factual entertainment such as classic Top Gear (Season 19) will air on BBC UKTV weekdays at 20:00 and Sundays from 18:30.

o Action-packed entertainment for children aged 0-12 will be available to watch between 06:30 and 09:00 every morning.

The launch of BBC UKTV joins BBC Studios’ existing channel offering on DStv including BBC Earth, BBC Brit, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC World News.

BBC Studios’ existing suite of channels will continue to offer first-run of brand-new premium programming such as Strictly Come Dancing, Frozen Planet II and fresh local shows such as Come Dine With Me South Africa and Homegrown Tastes South Africa.
