The Embassy of Republic of Zambia in Brasilia, Brazil will participate in the 2022 Brasilia Trends Fashion Week to showcase its fashion, art and culture 25th – 27th November under the themed: “Craftwork as a development alternative for the future.” .

Zambian Embassy in Brasilia Chargé d’affaires Coillard Muvwema says the event accords Zambia an opportunity to show the world the country’s traditional apparels, rich culture and rare traditional music.

“From our discussions with the organisers, we hope to bring Zambia’s fashion creative designers to Brazil in 2023 so that they can be part of the fashion space that provides participants with trainings, workshops and lectures on how the Brazilian fashion market is designed,” Mr. Muvwema said in a Friday, November 18, 2022 Press Statement from Brasilia, circulated by First Secretary-Press Brazil Lloyd Kapusa.

Mr. Muvwema is elated that the invitation is a yawning opportunity for Zambian fashion designers to penetrate the South America fashion industry market.

Mr. Muvwema said the interaction between the embassy and event organisers will give Zambian fashion designers access to new international interactions with world’s renowned creative fashion experts, models and designers that attend the show thus facilitating knowledge transfer.

On her part, Brasilia Trends Fashion Week International Coordinator Maia Ben Toguchi cheered the Zambian Embassy on account of being privy to Zambia’s rich cultural fashion trends.

“It is an honour that we are going to have Zambia participating at the 2022 Brasilia Trends Fashion Week because it is a nation with diverse cultural richness that the world must know and there is no better time to do so than now,” Ms. Toguchi said.

Arising from the two-year lull of not hosting the event due to Coronavirus (Covid 19) pandemic, as previous edition of the event was last held in 2019, which brought together a vast number of exhibitors, models, designers and great names of national and international fashion to the Federal Capital.

The 2022 Brasilia Trends Fashion Week will run from November 25th to the 27th under the theme of “Craftwork as a development alternative for the future.”

The previous edition of the event was last held in 2019 which brought together a vast number of exhibitors, models, designers and great names of national and international fashion to the Federal Capital.
