A Message of Reflection and Renewal for 2025 – United National Independence Party (UNIP) Vice Secretary General (VSG) Comrade (Cde.) Roy Kasuba

As we welcome the New Year, we, the United National Independence Party (UNIP), take a moment to reflect on our nation’s journey and the choices that have shaped our present.

Remembering Our Past
We remember the Zambia of old, where our parastatal companies were the backbone of our economy, providing vital services and employment opportunities to our citizens.We recall the pride and self-sufficiency that came with owning and controlling our own destiny.
Acknowledging Our Mistakes as a Nation
However, we also acknowledge the mistakes of the past. The hurried privatization of our parastatal companies has had a devastating impact on our nation. This has led to widespread unemployment, poverty, and social injustice. We recognize the need for accountability and transparency in governance.
The Challenges We Face
Our vulnerable women who rely on informal trading for survival are being arrested and unfairly fined or sent to prison for vending.
Our unemployed youths are forced to navigate a treacherous job market with limited opportunities, while those in informal mining activities are regarded as illegal miners. Furthermore, we are alarmed by the uncontrolled land grabbing by private entities, often through dubious means.
Our Commitment to Change
But even in the midst of these challenges, UNIP remains hopeful. We are convinced that we can stil learn from past errors and build a better future for all Zambians. In 2025, we commit to championing an economic framework that promotes equality and sustainability.
Our Vision for the Future
We will diligently advocate for policies that support job creation, industrial development, social justice, and land reform.
We will prioritize education and skills training to equip our youths for the modern job market. We will also promote entrepreneurship and innovation, particularly among women and marginalized communities.

A Call to Action
We urge our fellow Zambians to join us in this noble endeavor. Let us work together to rebuild our nation, restore its former glory, and create a future worthy of our highest aspirations. We must put aside our differences and unite for the common good.
