RUSSIA-ZAMBIA 2022 STEM-E FORUM HELD UNDER THE THEME “STEM SYSTEM AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER”

The Federal Government of Russia jointly with the Zambian Government have been holding the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) events aimed at encouraging young students, both girls and boys to take up science inclined courses.

For the first time during the STEM-E FORUM, representatives from Russian innovative companies will participate and exhibit modern technologies they would like to bring to Zambia’s mining and agriculture sectors.

The Russian House in Lusaka together with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology, will be holding the Russia-Zambia STEM-E forum on November 29 at Lusaka’s Mulungushi International Conference Center.

The push for science studies are in order to meet growing demands of digitalisation, technology and innovation for both national and global industrialisation.

The one-day event is expected to be graced by high-ranking officials from the Russian Embassy, Permanent Secretaries from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, academia among others.

According to the 2022 STEM-E Forum agenda released by the Russian House, there will be four panel discussions deliberating on different topics.

The first panel will be discussing Education: Challenges and Development Points.

This penal will have discussants from the industrial partnerships of Russia, Russian University of Transport, Ministry of Education, National Science Center, the University of Zambia and representative from David Kaunda STEM National Technical School.

The second panel of discussants will be talking about STEM + E ecosystem.

Experts for this topic are expected to come from the industrial partnerships of Russia, Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SEIES LLC, and an advisor to Ambassador of Business Russia to Zambia.

Communication in Science, Technology and Education: How to communicate the future, will be the topic for the third panel which will comprise media and science communication experts.

The fourth panel during the 2022 Russia -Zambia STEM+E Forum will discuss industries creating the future, with experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zambia Manufacturers Association and CABI International.

This year’s Russia -Zambia STEM+E Forum will have an exposition on Russian technology in food production, Information Technology (IT), mining, and agricultural industries and there will also be a combined presentation by Russian universities.

The Federal Government of Russia through the Russian House in Lusaka working with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology has been over the years awarding around 150 scholarships annually to deserving Zambian students to study science, technology, engineering and nuclear science among other related programmes in various universities in Russia.
