UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Alliance Media Director Thabo Kawana is disturbed by Zambia Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo’s confirmations of law enforcement and Bank of Zambia (BoZ) discovering K65, 000 and US$ 67, 000 in Lusaka’s Kasama township on Friday 17th September, 2021.

Franked team member, Davies Mataka, Edmond Miti and Lord Salt Mubita, a visibly hurt Mr. Kawana protested that the confirmed huge sums of money is indicative of Zambia having been ruled by a kleptocracy.

“What we are begining to see is that we are now confirming through reports by Zambia Police that the country was in the hands of hooligans, in the last decade since 2011.
A country that had no medicines, a collapsed health system grounded to a near halt, yet individuals could have 65, million kwacha and US$67, 000 hidden in a house. It is quiet clear that this money was placed in the hands of young lady for safe keeping. We can keep speculating though what is clear and what Zambians keep asking themselves is why was this money not kept in the bank,” Kawana wondered.

Franked team member, Davies Mataka, Edmond Miti and Lord Salt Mubita, a visibly hurt Mr. Kawana protested that the confirmed huge sums of money is indicative of Zambia having been ruled by a kleptocracy.

Kawana is prayerful that all the perpetrators associated with the latest loot and those yet to be exposed will be brought to book, so as to set a precedence that never again in Zambia, should individuals stick fingers sticking in public coffers.

“As we are in charge, of the county, we shall demonstrate zero tolerance to corruption, we are aware that cash is moving in cars and are on top of things, as the New Dawn Administration is not a vigilante, thus the police will conduct of their works independently and results will be known soon. You may hide but will be caught up in due course, as stealing from tax payers is equal to stealing from God,” warned Kawana.

Kawana is dismayed at the level of atrocities that the Patriotic Front (PF) government engaged itself in evident by the high level of criminality, exposed in New Kasama.

“We have a situation where the poor Zambians had no access to education food or health amenities, yet a lot of local and foreign currency is stashed by looters ” Kawana cried foul.

Still on inter-party politics Kawana advised PF Vice President Given Lubinda to speak for himself and not the UPND Alliance New Dawn Administration led by Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.

“Mr. Lubinda should not speak on behalf of President Hichilema or the people of Zambia. let him speak for himself as part of those callous individuals shocked that we won the poll with a landslide. Lubinda is the only one shocked because, when Zambians saw the wind of change, he and team were in a world of there own. He needs to do a reality check, so he can be reminded that the wind of change was inevitable, and PF’s arrogance made them lose the elections.
People where chocked gagged and could not voice their opinions, the first sign he missed was the huge number if citizens registering as voters and later, a high level of voter waking up early and spending long hours to show the PF the exit door. The Zambian people were clearly tired of the PF, ” Kawana taunted Lubinda, the former Justice Minister, who did not recontest the Kabwata parliamentary seat in Lusaka.
